The Failing Turtle

I told my mom that I was going to use that as my post title and she laughed.  I was serious!  Allow me to explain....

I started 525,600 Stitches in June (a little over a month ago) as a way to do something for myself.  And I don't mean that selfishly, but rather to encourage myself to seek my own interests and to expand my horizons.  Since my oldest son (who just turned 4) was born, I really had not spent ANY time going after my interests or desires.  The thing is...that was ok with me.  I didn't mind because I LOVE my husband and my boys and aside from God, they are my main priorities.  But, I started to realize recently that I need to do something for me, too.  And it's not just for my sanity (which I need :), but it's also important for my family.  I want to teach my boys not just through my words, but also through my actions.  I want them to know that dreaming and running after your dreams is ok...that it's wonderful.

Where does the Failing Turtle come in??  I've been feeling like the Failing Turtle lately.  Wanting to work on my sewing projects and not having the time.  Actually getting to work on them and strongly disliking how they turn out.  Feeling like it's taking soo long to actually accomplish a project.  Failing Turtle, you see...slow and unproductive!  (Not that I think turtles are unproductive, just slow :)

So, where do I go from here?  One of the many things that I've learned as a mom is that things usually aren't going to go how I planned or expected, but what I make of it is completely up to me!  Am I bummed that I've only made a shirt and a skirt?  Yeah, a little.  But, I'm not going to quit because of it...I'm going to keep on keeping on.  I'm going to do the best that I can and I'm determined to have fun and grow along the way, too.

Because it's good for mommy to have some me time.  And it's good for my boys to see me running after my dreams!!!

No, I'm not happy with the skirt!  But, that's ok because I'm going to try again this weekend!!  I still love sewing, so there's that :)  And the face I'm making in that top photo is cracking me up!
