School ~ home style
Six weeks ago we started a new adventure.... We started homeschooling! I've waited a while to post about it for a few reasons; the main one being that we are still figuring this new gig out!! And to be completely honest, I don't really have much to report. We are taking it day by day and I know that we have a ways to go before we really find our groove....
I do know that I love having my boys home with me and that this is definitely what works for us. Justus is 5 and we are doing kindergarten curriculum. Oliver is 3 and he is basically just along for the ride this year. He typically sits with us and colors...or whines and wants me to hold him ;) Like I said, we're still working out the kinks!
We are keeping things pretty simple this year. We are working on reading and writing and math (all for kindergarten age, of course!) I did also buy the Jesus Storybook Bible and we use that as our morning devotional. I'm really not sure who loves our new Bible more. More often than not, I have tears in my eyes at the last paragraph. And we have a neat science book I bought off of Zulily a few weeks back that has fun, basic experiments in it. Tomorrow we are going to make homemade silly putty!! (It's not actually out of the science book, but it will be our first little "experiment.")
I think the biggest lesson in my life right now is seeing the world through my boys' eyes. They are so eager to explore and move and seek. And I, frankly, am not always so eager...! I love how God teaches me through them every single day. That He uses their little lives to refine mine. They are amazing boys...but even more than that...He is an amazing God....

so proud of you! homeschooling is a labor of love! i always have tears in my eyes reading the Jesus Storybook bible too!
I love this! I love that you're starting the homeschooling journey.. it's something that Trevor and I have talked about doing when Cruz is at that point. Your last paragraph moved me "I love how God teaches me through them every single day. That He uses their little lives to refine mine." Such profound words, brought tears to my eyes. I can't wait to read more about it! xox
(And, for whatever reason, I was not a follower anymore! Wha?! I was wondering why I never saw your posts anymore, and now I know. So glad I'm back! Even though I'm confused. haha. You are so inspiring, and visiting this space makes my heart happy. :)
I can't imagine taking on the challenge of homeschooling -- you are brave, girl! I love those number signs, and the last pic is GREAT!
